Copywriter (New Position)

Full-Time / Marketing / Anywhere (100% Remote) Only

Who We’re Looking For In A Nutshell

We are looking for someone with a growth mindset who wants to collaborate with our team alongside our fabulous entrepreneur Susan Garrett and be a part of our vision to improve the lives of dogs and dog owners by helping them understand each other better. 

We’re a heart driven company, and believe that our community and student’s experience and success is one of the main contributing factors to our future success.

This position will support the vision and direction of DogsThat brand by having a deep understanding and awareness of appropriate voice and delivering effective and creative written content to support goals and a growing student base by directly impacting sales numbers, conversion and retention rates.

Our new position is based in the Southern Hemisphere time zone. Initially, the hours are Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm AEST (7 pm - 3 am ET), with room for some flexibility. After training and as your experience with us grows, there may be further flexibility to adjust the schedule.

Responsibilities include:

  • Translate concepts into effective messages by writing clear, persuasive original copy.
  • Write error-free copy for touchpoints including, but not limited to, digital and web, classroom, podcast, social media, and retail in company voice/brand.
  • Craft compelling, congruent copy for pages to move traffic through our funnels, ensuring the highest conversion rates possible.
  • Write clear, engaging emails with high deliverability, open rates, and click-through rates.
  • Produce big idea copy for sales pages that produce impactful conversion rates and lead to strong sales results for all types of traffic.
  • Ensuring copy is clear for a global audience and free of jargon or colloquialism.
  • The understanding that even though we have used words like traffic and conversion above, we are truly heart based and believe every word matters, so you will not hear these terms in day-to-day conversations with our team or community.

You’re a perfect fit if you:

  • Have 2-5 years of experience as a Copywriter.
  • Have 1-3 years of experience with Direct Response Copy.
  • Have experience with one or more of Susan Garrett’s DogsThat classrooms.
  • Effective time management, problem-solving and deadline management skills are necessary.
  • Deep understanding of brand voice and target audience; ability to articulate messages that resonate with our brand values.
  • Ability to think strategically, conceptualize creatively, work cooperatively and see the concept through to flawless execution.
  • Creative with discipline. The ability to consistently produce high quality and creative copy during launches and promotions.
  • Possess a mission-driven approach to make an impact in the world, and the desire to apply your copywriting skills to helping dogs and their owners live better lives.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Have experience working remotely, have a keen eye for detail, and are passionate about serving both a team and a very large dog-loving community.
  • Is flexible in working with a small global team and understanding there is a lot of cross-function in our roles.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Experienced with G Suite services/Slack is a bonus.

  • Fluency (written and verbal) in English.

  • You do not have good time management skills or the ability to be organized.
  • You do not have attention to detail or a high level of follow through.
  • You do not like collaborating and do not take direction well.
  • You are fazed by shifting priorities.
  • You don’t enjoy trying new things in technology or trying new tactics to improve efficiency.
  • You do not have experience working from home, in a virtual global team, or in an agile development environment.
  • You are not looking for a long-term role in our team.
  • You do not like dogs 🐶 ( 🙂 ) or communicating with people from all over the world! 

Note: There will be times where it’s all hands on deck for planned activities, and times when we meet outside our own time zone. Flexibility is a must as this position may need a level of responsiveness outside of the normal work week and standard work hours during three to four events a year.

Customer Happiness VA

Full-Time / Customer Support / Anywhere (100% Remote) Only

The DogsThat team is a diverse, fast moving, and passionate group who is looking for a Customer Happiness Team Member to join the team.

Who We’re Looking For In A Nutshell

We are looking for someone who wants to grow with our team alongside our entrepreneur Susan Garrett and be a part of our vision to improve the lives of dogs and dog owners by helping them understand each other better.

We’re a heart driven company, and believe that our community and student’s experience and success is one of the main contributing factors to our future success.

Hours are Sunday to Thursday 8 am - 4 pm ET. (will include occasional hours outside that work week)

NOTE: For the first 1-2 months of training, hours will be Monday to Friday 8 am - 4pm ET.  After training, hours will be Saturday to Wednesday 8 am - 4 pm ET.

After training (approx 1 to 2 months), there may be flexibility to adjust the schedule.

You’re a perfect fit if you:

  • Have experience with one or more of Susan Garrett’s DogsThat classrooms.
  • Have experience working remotely, have a keen eye for detail, and are passionate about serving both a team and a very large dog-loving community.
  • Have strong experience responding to customers in online ticket support systems (Zendesk experience is a bonus).
  • Are able to “read the room” when reading a ticket and able to reply with empathy and compassion.
  • Is flexible with working with a small team and understanding there is a lot of cross-functional task sharing. Able to take on a multitude of varying tasks.
  • Strong analytical skills for reviewing a customer contact and where they are in their customer journey.
  • Understands how to use a macro but knows when to modify to meet the needs of someone to ensure a positive experience.
  • Communication and Grammar skills will need to be A-class for writing, typing, and messaging.
  • Experienced with GSuite services/Slack is a bonus.

What we look for in a team member:

  • Agile, humble, trustworthy, and a team player.
  • Flexibility for taking on tasks that fit outside of the traditional Customer Happiness roles.
