Why do dogs eat poop? It’s known as coprophagia and how to stop it is a popular question. Poop eating in dogs is more common than you might think. When your dog eats their own poop or another dog's poop, it can be distressing, and if it's out in public, downright embarrassing! I'm walking you through the three main reasons behind coprophagia, what worked to stop my puppy Prophet from eating poop, and why I think my dog Encore started when she was six years old and the resolve. None of us want our dogs to snack on poop, and understanding is the first step in helping them.

Hi. I am about to order the Soil& Sea probiotic in the hope it will cure my black lab of not only eating his own poop (if I don’t get to it in time to pick up )but that of other dogs on walks and our cat’s. He follows the cat around waiting for her to perform! It completely ruins walks for me and I’m truly hoping this product will help cure him. He’s 6 years old so not a pup and I got him aged 2 when he was withdrawn from the Dogs for the Blind programme. Fingers crossed….
This was such a great topic. I was wondering if your pet insurance covered the biome testing costs. I understand they are probably all different but I am curious. It’s a pricey test. In the meantime I have just ordered the “soil & sea” probiotic.
One of our dogs eats poo if I’m not quick enough to redirect him. His brother does not. Thank you for covering this topic!
