When do you consider your dog trained? That’s what we’re talking about in this episode. We’re also looking at why I think “dog training” might be misnamed and what all great relationships have in common. Plus if you ever find yourself furious with your dog, I’ve got one big tip to help!
In the episode you'll hear:
- My answers to the two most common dog training questions asked of me.
- What owning a car has to do with dog training.
- What all great relationships have in common.
- How to turn being puzzled, frustrated or furious with your dog around.
This one was great. I’ve had a question about the leash you use. I love it. What kind is it? I’ve never seen a soft one like this.
I like your common sense approach to
I compete in agility with my pug, Jake. I smiled when I heard you say you used to compete in agility with a pug. I am really glad I found your podcast. I’m enjoying listening to the episodes.
Susan, this podcast resonated with me so much, particularly the comment about getting “furious” – that’s exactly how I felt when we were asked to leave the first dog training class in a local pet store (Petco) before we even started because my dog was reactive towards other dogs. I got very upset and even cried because I felt defeated. But I also realized that being upset, beating myself up or being furious with my dog will not change anything. What’s next? So that’s when I got curious and wanted to find ways on how to educate myself in order to help my dog behave more intelligently. We’ve been working with a local training group ever since and there is some progress. I’m also sooo glad that I discovered your masterclass and podcasts. They make such good sense and I’ve seen improvement in my dog’s choices in just short couple of weeks. Thank you for sharing your expertise and kindness with the world! I can’t get enough!
